BEDA Day 17 (Part Two)

I read quite a few blogs and so many people are getting involved with the 4 Simple Goals project that Elsie at A Beautiful Mess started. I’ve also seen it here, here, here and here. As I’m doing 101 Things I was a little reluctant to join in but then again I keep seeing it all over the place so here I am with my list – I couldn’t resist.

1. Take More Photos

Okay so everyone seems to have this but it’s true – I carry my camera round with me nearly all the time and seem to take lots of photos at events but not of every day stuff lol.

2. Dress More Girlie

According to my Mum, when I was little I adored dresses, I wore them all the time, then I got to about 11 or 12n and didn’t want to be the girlie girl any more and went completely to wearing trousers as much of the time as possible. Now I’m 24 and want to be more girlie lol. So here we go – I’m going to wear a dress or a skirt at least once a week.

3. Knitting

I love knitting but have the tendency to start projects and not finish them (or then unpick them to use the wool for other things). So I want to finish some projects and be more inventive and not wimp out by purling and dropping stitches and picking up stitches.

4. Re-Dye my hair

I unfortunately am blessed with premature grey hairs so I have two choices – I leave my hair natural and wait for all my greys to appear or I keep dying my hair for as long as possible lol. I’ve already decided that when I go grey all over I am dying my hair pink or blue – mainly because I have naturally dark hair and so the pink only shows up if I bleach first.

I found two fab dresses on the supermarket website – I just need to go have a look see if they have them in store (to make sure that they fit and that the comment of “knee length” is actually knee length and not “just covering your pants” lol. I’m going to grab some leggings/footless tights to go with them – I could really do with pedal pushers or capri pants – can you still get them?

Okay so I pretty much live in jeans, trousers or shorts – I’m not really a fan of skirts or at least I didn’t use to be – skirts are growing on me. These are some things that I really like.

Ummma’s Boots!!!!

Fab!!

My friend Ummma has an awesome dress sense – she has this one dress which is purple with white spots and has a funky petticoat. And her amazing dress sense rubbed of her gorgeous fantastic daughters who are like super lovely!

I love the style of clothes that Zooey Deschanel wears – especially her outfits in (500) Days of Summer. They are often very girlie and vintage looking – so quite Fifties style I guess.

I found these two dresses on a supermarket’s website I really like them but don’t think they are really me lol. Then again maybe I just need to adapt me lol.

I bought this dress from the same supermarket earlier this week. I really like it but I didn’t have time to buy some leggings so I ended up wearing it over trousers to work this week but I might try it with shorts this weekend (and if I have chance to buy leggings I might go with those next lol)

Butlins 2010: Saturday

Technically it’s now Tuesday! I kept trying to write the posts but we were doing too much and then when we weren’t doing stuff I was too hot or too tired to bother lol.

Saturday started with breakfast. I thought I would manage a bowl of Muesli and a some fry up bits. I got through my muesli and decided that I was already full – I felt kinda bad – I get that it’s an all you can eat breakfast thingy but it was kinda a waste. I think I made it through a sausage and decided that was enough lol.

Following breakfast we decided to head into Skegness for a wander. But first we had to take pictures on the giant deck chair. Me and That Boy had a serious picture then my FIL decided that he couldn’t be left out and so decided to show off.

My FIL had been for an explore earlier during the week (they had been at Butlins since Monday) and so knew a place to park that was close enough to the sea front to walk into town but far enough away not to have to pay parking fees. We went for a wander along a stretch of shops. I was looking for a sun hat because it was so hot and sunny. We’d gone in various tourist-y shops but they were all cheesy never wear again kinda hats lol. We ended up in Peacocks and I found a few that I liked but most were too small (I guess all that knowledge in my brain has stretched my skull and my scalp lol.)

I found one that was like a Stetson – like a cowboy hat lol. It’s got shells and beads on a string around it so that was nice and holiday-ness. (I don’t think my explanation does it justice lol – Maybe I’ll take a picture).

After hat shopping we went for a wander along a bit further and then down to the sea front. Me and my MIL went for a paddle which was good fun. We then walked back up the beach to where my FIL and That Boy were perched on some rocks. My SIL had gone to look for some swimming goggles so when she eventually caught up with us at the beach we semi-dragged her kicking and screaming back down to the sea for a paddle. She eventually got there and did go for a paddle but she kept whimping out about how cold it was and how fast the waves were coming in. (It was cold but in comparison to the air temperature it was lovely and cooling).

We headed back to the camp and came up with plans for the rest of the day. That Boy crashed in a heap in our room while I went for a wander round the funfair with my in laws. It was good fun.

EDIT: So I keep trying to finish this post but I get confused as to what happened next so for now I’m leaving it like that.

Wedding Wednesday (A response to Kaelah)

There are a few blogs that I read every time there is a new post and most of the time I drop a comment and leave it there but I decided to join in on this one lol.

The super lovely Kaelah does a post on a Wednesday (or sometimes Thursday lol) called Wedding Wednesday and each time she posts some super cute pictures of weddings that she’s found across the internet.

Well today she ended her post with:

And for the weekly wedding question: Dresses! Often seen as one of the most important facets of a bride’s big day! What style of dress are you fond of? What would you like to (or what did you) sport down the aisle? Princess skirt? Mermaid? Stark White vs. Ivory? Lace or Beading? Or just a simple little white sundress to keep it casual? Well that was that I decided I would post some of my pictures and link back to her blog. All my photos on this post were taken by my best friend Kewey. She came and did my make-up (she was allowed behind the scenes lol).

I loved my dress. When I started looking I decided that I didn’t want something skinny and slinky because I’d look really silly because I’m not really skinny enough to carry it off.

I looked at coloured dresses as well – mainly because I’ve never really got on with white outfits – I usually end up spilling something down it. I also looked at dresses with sleeves but decided that even thought it was the middle of May it could have been really warm. My other main stipulation that the straps were wide enough that I didn’t have to worry about falling out of the dress. Having been a waitress for a catering company during my teens, I’ve seen many brides having to hitch their dress back up again because of the lack of straps!

My only main issue was that the boning that supported the corset style top kept digging into my ribs. It’s worth making sure you are comfy and sitting down in the dress in the middle of the shop and slouching to make sure you are comfy – it’s a long day but soooo worth it lol.

The One with The T-shirts

So I am a fan of T-shirts – I tend to wear T-shirts to work with smart-er jumpers over the top rather than wearing smart blouses (As they are uncomfy and the last few that I bought tend to cut into my arms – anyhoo not the point)

A few weeks ago I bought this shirt

I actually love this shirt a stupid amount lol. Every time I wear it though I get people giving me strange looks because of how the wording is broken up but I don’t care lol. I love it all the same!!!

Next I bought this shirt (and extra goodies cos I got a Limited Edition Bundle pack thing):

ALL CAPS are a band from the USA, their members are Kristina Horner (she’s italktosnakes on YouTube and blogs at Oh Hey Kristina) and Luke Conard (He’s on YouTube and is also in a Wrock band called Ministry of Magic – if you go his main YouTube page there are videos there like Goodbye Privet Drive).

And my third and final shirt (and extra goodies) for now is this one:

Alex is a musician from here in the UK. He is a member of the Time Lord rock band called Chameleon Circuit (Even David Tennant knows who they are!) but also has done some bits on his own. He is another YouTuber and you can find his channel here.

So those are my fab T-shirts and hopefully I will get round to taking some pictures of me wearing those shirts rather than just having the images I found on the DFTBA website or FToM‘s site.

The One with My Tuesday Evening

So yesterday, well this is before and excluding the falling down the stairs issues. After work I went to the supermarket for some food. I spotted the Rock Angel top that @minxymoggy found the other day for me (and tweeted about it too!) This is what it looks like.

Me and my friend David were discussing about whether I should get it and the conclusion we came to was yes and because then it could come out of my Marketing budget. Erm well ok so I don’t have a marketing budget for my blog and anything resembling marketing is at my own expense but I figured it was a good idea anyway. What do you think?

I then went to another local store to get a zip for Ali, she’d been into town at lunch and the one store she thought she might be able to get a zip from and the girl serving her wasn’t very helpful at all. So I popped into the store round the corner from the supermarket and was able to get one in the right colour for Ali.

I headed home and put away the shopping and grabbed some tea before parking in front of the television for a DVD fest. I watched the end of My Sister’s Keeper (I’d started it Monday evening), Imagine That and The History Boys. Somewhere in the middle I also watched The Brit awards albeit at high speed in places. (Me and Rickie discussed writing posts about The Brits so I might watch it again on high speed while scribbling bits to turn into a blog post. You can read Rickie’s blog post here.)

So I have three film reviews and a blog post about the Brits to write so I think I’ll catch you all later.

NaBloPoMo: Day 10: The One With The T-Shirt

So if I get these posted I will be upto date (And you readers will all be asleep having read 5 posts in one go so that your RSS doesn’t get clogged up lol)

I have one more day without my manager and as exciting and daunting as that seems I actually don’t mind. I’m kinda getting the jist and there’s not been too many difficult people – most of the issues I’ve been able to deal with apart from a few random collections that I know nothing about.

JD has really taken to knitting and was nipping along at lunchtime – I even did two rows on her scarf so there’s a bit of Hannah-ness in her new scarf – although I wouldn’t be able to pick them out as they are the same colour as the rest lol.

The scarf is made of some funky wool. It’s got two threads and one is navy blue all the way along it and then the other thread blends from blue to purple then pink and then back through purple and blue to start the pattern again.

I am also trying to get a T-shirt printed to take with me to #140conf but I’m really struggling – at the rate it’s going I’m going to have to get out the pens and write my own shirt lol.

I tried to go through Iffyton who produce some of my favourite shirts but they don’t do one of jobs. I tried a couple of other companies in Bedford but I didn’t hear back from one of them and the other could do it but I needed to be able to get the shirt to them and stuff like that. I guess I could get iron transfers but they can make the shirt crispy if you’re not careful.

This Meme (apparently it’s meem rather than me-me) was working it’s way round this afternoon so here are my answers – what are yours?

Four places I go regularly: My Mum’s House, Church, JD’s flat (or at least the “car park” lol), Mrs W’s House

Four favourite smells: Freshly mown grass, just baked cookies or cake, bacon sandwiches, Roast dinner (then again maybe food in general it would seem!!)

Four people I think will respond: Ruby, Elle or JD but not sure if Mum will lol ChattyAli just sent it to me! (It was being past round by email which is why you’d have people responding lol)

My Favourite Shoes

These are my favourite shoes – I’ve had this pair of DM’s for about 5 years now (I remember wearing them lots in the Sixth Form which I started in Sept 2002 so they might even be seven years old. They are well worth the money due to how long I’ve had them and how comfy they are.

I tried to find another pair so that I could replace them but I ahven’t been able to find anywhere that sell the right pair – the catalogue my Mum gets no longer has DM’s in there and the factory outlet store is near Northampton and so I’d have to drive all the way there for a replacement pair (which at £40-50 a go I’m not sure if I can afford a replacement pair)

So instead Mum has suggested that I take them to the cobblers and see if they can be repaired – after all they put new soles on Mum’s favourite shoes about three times in a row because she loved the shoes so much!

I’m hoping that they can stitch the strap back on again otherwise they are very poorly shoes.
